Case Study: Cardio Plus
CASE STUDY 1:
Mrs. J.K. he is 60 years old. She was diagnosed with hypertension 3 years ago without cardiovascular comorbidities. In addition to elevated blood pressure, tachycardia (rapid heartbeat) was recorded at that moment. The doctor prescribed a therapy consisting of two drugs, enalapril (ACE inhibitor) in a dose of 10 mg 1×1 in the morning and metoprolol (beta blocker) in a dose of 50mg 2×1/2 tablets. After some time, that therapy was corrected, so metoprolol was excluded from the therapy because it lowered the heart rate too much (bradycardia), and the blood pressure was not controlled with only one drug (enalapril 10mg), so hydrochlorothiazide (diuretic) was also included in the therapy ) in a dose of 25 mg. So the patient on therapy with enalapril+hydrochlorothiazide 10+25mg 1×1 in the morning brought the disease under control.
By the way, the patient is an educator and every year they do a systematic examination, where basic laboratory findings are checked, such as a complete blood count, urine test, glucose, as well as lipid status (total cholesterol and triglycerides).
During this examination, it was observed that the patient has elevated cholesterol, not much, but the values were slightly elevated.
Analysis results:
Total cholesterol = 6.5 mmol/L (reference values: ≤ 5.2 mmol/L)
Triglycerides = 1.70 mmol/L (reference values: 0.2 – 1.70 mmol/L)
The doctor advised her to change her lifestyle, because she is a little overweight, and to try to bring her cholesterol within normal values. He advised her to reduce her intake of foods that are too salty and fatty, as well as to reduce her intake of sweets, and thus try to reduce her body weight.
In addition to nutrition advice, moderate physical activity was also suggested to the lady, to walk 2-3 km every day. After two months of this lifestyle, she was told to come for a check-up, to check the findings again.
However, the patient decides to go to the pharmacy and look for some herbal preparation for high cholesterol. At the pharmacy, he received a recommendation from the pharmacist to take Black garlic Cardio plus, a preparation based on oil extracts of fermented garlic, white and red hawthorn, and white mistletoe, and to use this preparation for at least 2 months continuously, but for the full effect, he should use it for 3 months , 3×2 capsules after meals. The pharmacist drew the lady’s attention to the fact that during therapy with this product, blood pressure is also controlled, because this preparation not only lowers elevated levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, but also lowers elevated blood pressure, and if hypotension (low blood pressure) occurs, contact your doctor or pharmacist in order to reduce the existing pharmacotherapy (enalapril+hydrochlorothiazide 10+25mg).
After drinking two bottles of the Black garlic Cardio plus product, the patient had her cholesterol and triglycerides analyzed again, she changed her diet to some extent, but since she is a big gourmand, she could not give up a lot of food, what she adopted from the advice was to walk 3 km every day, so she lost 3 kg in 2 months.
Analysis results:
Total cholesterol = 5.1 mmol/L (reference values: ≤ 5.2 mmol/L)
Triglycerides = 1.56 mmol/L (reference values: 0.2 – 1.7 mmol/L)
She came to the pharmacy with new results to show off, she was very satisfied and overjoyed because the product gave her results, and she didn’t have to take statins (medicines that lower high cholesterol, but at the same time burden the liver and lead to liver dysfunction). She bought two more bottles, one for herself and she will continue to drink 3×1 after meals, because it is now a maintenance therapy, and the other for her son because there are many people in the family who suffer from hypertension and hyperlipidemia, so she wants to prevent the occurrence of mentioned diseases, because she received information from the pharmacist that the Black garlic Cardio plus product can also be used as a prevention.
